Thunderstorms and heavier rain halted the racing action with one lap remaining in the eighth heat race of the evening - near the end of the first round of the dual heat race/ passing points qualifying format used for the Shootout.
Saturday's program will resume at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with the rest of the heat races, a C and B-Main for the winged 600's, and then the three A-Mains (Sportsman, 250cc Four-Strokes, and winged 600's). Because 46 of the winged 600's entered the event, their 30-lap A-Main will offer a $1,000 payday to the winning driver. There will also be a Quarter Midget exhibition race during the afternoon of high speed adventure.
After a break at the completion of Saturday's show, Sunday's portion of the Shootout will begin. Dual heats for the 270cc, 125cc, and wingless 600cc Micros will lead off the Sunday night festivities, followed by any C and B-Mains that are needed. The weekend will culminate with three, 30-lap A-Mains. If there are at least 45 cars entered in the 270cc and wingless 600cc Classes, those A-Mains will pay $1,000 to the winner.
It'll be a full day - and evening - of Micro-Sprint competition as Lanco's Labor Day Shootout, presented by Mark Millwright & Rigging and Esh Racing Products, rolls on at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway.
